Very similar to the Daniel Dennett talk at TED that Sunshine posted recently, this book is about memes and culture, evolution, religion and what the authors call Higher Powers. I got an early copy of the book, which I'm still in the process of reading, but it's chock full of info.

Where Daniel Dennett leaves off in his talk, the authors pick up on Higher Power memes which aren't just religious-based but include government and corporations, and how we can stop sacrificing our minds and freedoms to these parasitic memes. The book, as the title suggests, ultimately goes in the direction of longevity and cryonics, which is why God wants us Dead, as religion and technology are competing to sell the same product - immortality.
